The Watchers, inspired by Halloween or Samhain
This started off as a bare wire tree but you know me, I do like adding in a bit of detail.
Earlier on this year one bird was added, then two more because he really needed some buddies. In September I found some forgotten about red cinnabar roses and some gothic inspiration was sparked, with some thick green woven wire vines with a separate vine of beaded green leaves to give the impression of ivy snaking up the trunk and into the branches, with three red roses nestled around the roots. It is mounted on a round slate disc with the use of some sculpting clay and painted with two tone metallic effect paint and matte black. Depending on how the light hits, the metallic paint can look emerald green or deep purple.
The birds have been handmade with sculpting clay and also painted with matte black paint to create a silhouette effect.
Size: Tree height (inc base) 20 cms / 8 inchesSlate base 15 cms / 4 x 6 inches
Materials: Black, green and purple tarnish resistant copper wire, glass seed beads, 3 cinnabar roses, polymer clay, acrylic paint, matte varnish
Care instructions: For ornamental use only. Copper wire is soft and can be bent easily - branches can be adjusted but bending back and forth repeatedly can cause the wire to weaken and it may snap.
Please be careful when handling as the ends of the wire may be sharp. Don't do what I did and poke yourself in the face when looking too closely.
